Justin and Lauren's Landscape Bed
Create a privacy bed that will make busy street living a little more peaceful and tranquil for a client's first home.
Our Solution:
We came up with a design that incorporates contrasting colors and a variety of textures and shapes. Read on to learn how we approached this project.
Client goals: Create a privacy bed that will make busy street living, a little more peaceful and tranquil. Installing low maintenance trees, shrubs and perennials. The dry river beds of gravel add a lovely dimension of contrast as well.
Challenges: Being a brand new driveway, we were constantly needing to be cautious to not damage it in any way. We were forced to dump all dirt on the street side and move it around with the mini skid steer. There were also power lines above the area, so selection of plants were limited, when it came to picking something that will serve as all year privacy and not grow too tall.
A row of Emerald Green Arborvitaes. Known for their beautiful all year color and uniform shape. These will grow to a height of 12-15 feet and 3-4 feet wide. Forming the perfect natural fence. A Blood Good Japanese Maple contrasts well against the black much and green Arborvitaes.
Fill dirt was used as a base layer to ensure minimal settling over the years.

Not every project calls for such symmetry as this one. But being in the middle of a turn around driveway, I absouletly love the way this job turned out
